For your information, permanent residence in Thailand can be categorized into these categories;

Of these, work/business and supporting Thai citizen or being supported by Thai citizen, are the two most common categories. However, the primary requirements for each are:

Work or Business

  • The holder of extension of stay permit for 3 years or more (consecutively);
  • The holder of work permit for 3 years or more (consecutively);
  • Earning annual income of 960,000 Baht or more during the past 3 years;
  • If you have changed your jobs (employer) during the past 3 years, you must be working for your current employer for no less than 1 year;

Supporting Thai Citizen or being Supported by Thai Citizen

  • The holder of extension of stay permit for 3 years or more (consecutively);
  • The holder of work permit for 3 years or more (consecutively);
  • Earning annual income of 360,000 Baht or more during the past 3 years;
  • Legally married to a Thai national:
    • Married for at least 2 years and having a biological child together or;
    • In case of infertility, they have to be married for at least 5 years+ providing medical certification of their issue.

You can apply once a year that is around the end of November. Prior to submitting your application, you must prepare for the personal document sometime around September; for instance, requesting for certificate of no criminal record from the Thai Embassy. Further, the certificate should be translated into Thai language and then be certified at the country’s consular section. However, before doing so much you must at first check your eligibility.
